Hatikvah התקווה

כָּל עוֹד בַּלֵּבָב פְּנִימָהkol 'od ballevav penimahAs long as the Jewish spirit is yearning deep in the heart,
נֶפֶשׁ יְהוּדִי הוֹמִיָּהnefesh yehudi homiyahWith eyes turned toward the East, looking toward Zion,
וּלְפַאֲתֵי מִזְרָח קָדִימָהulefa'atei mizrakh kadimah
Then our hope - the two-thousand-year-old hope - will not be lost:
עַיִן לְצִיּוֹן צוֹפיָּהayin letsiyon tsofiyah
עוֹד לֹא אָבְדָה תִּקְוָתֵנוּod lo' 'avdah tikvatenu
To be a free people in our land,
הַתִּקְוָה בָּת שְׁנוֹת אַלְפַּיִםhatikvah bat shnot 'alpayim
לִהְיוֹת עַם חָפְשִׁי בְּאַרְצֵנוּlihyot 'am khofshi be'artsenu
The land of Zion and Jerusalem.
אֶרֶץ צִיּוֹן וִירוּשָׁלַיִםerets tsiyon virushalayim

Hatikvah, literally “the hope,” is Israel’s national anthem.
